Description
This retreat will focus on Native expression of spirituality from Dr. Church's Potawatomi traditions as an Indigenous pastor and professor. Included in the retreat day will be participation in incense burning in the native way, the making of the dream catcher, participation in a pipe ceremony, making of prayer ties in the native way, talking circle introduction and other indigenous expressions used by Dr. Church as his spiritual practices.
What to expect in a One-Day Retreat
9:00am - 12:00pm PT - Session One
12:00pm - 1:00pm PT - Lunch
1:00pm - 4:00pm PT - Session Two
This one-day retreat will be held in-person and also accessible through livestream.
About our Presenter:
Rev. Dr. Casey Church is a tribal member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. He is an Indigenous Missiologist, Church Planter and Pastor at Good Medicine Way in Albuquerque, NM. Casey is the author of “Holy Smoke: The Contextual Use of Native American Ritual and Ceremony”. Dr. Church received his Doctor of Missiology degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. Casey and his wife Lora (Navajo) reside in Albuquerque where they have raised their five children.
