What is the program?

This Stillpoint certification program invites seasoned spiritual directors to become supervisors for other spiritual directors.

Supervision is an essential component in the ministry of spiritual companioning. In supervision, a spiritual director is invited to contemplatively reflect on both a specific spiritual direction session and one’s ongoing practice in service of being ever more faithful and present companions with the people one is invited to journey with. Skilled and compassionate supervision assists spiritual directors in deepening their self-awareness, cultivating greater interior freedom, and refining the unique gifts and capacities they bring to their ministry of spiritual companioning.

Through presentations, case studies, demonstrations, triadic real-plays, and one-on-one supervision sessions, we will explore the nature of supervision, common issues brought to supervision in the ministry of spiritual direction, dynamics of power and privilege in spiritual direction, models of supervision, and the skills and processes that cultivate interior freedom and grounded clarity in the spiritual directors one is called to supervise. The aim of this program is to equip persons in becoming supervisors for other spiritual directors ever in service of the directees we are graced to companion.
