Enneagram Through the Lens of Stances

DESCRIPTION

This retreat was designed for those new to the Enneagram AND those who desire to go deeper.

The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system that identifies Nine Personality Types that are expressed individually and in relationship to others. Unlike Marston’s DiSC™ Assessment or the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator™, the Enneagram acts as a unique tool for understanding and explaining human behavior, the underlying motivations that drive behavior, and the gifts we all have for the transformation of non-productive encounters with others. In this workshop, participants will learn the basic tenets of the Enneagram system and how knowing ones-self can allow us to lead more whole lives.

#GoDeeper with the Enneagram
After students of the Enneagram identify their personality type, many want to know what to do about what they’ve learned. Because of the inevitable wounding we all experience in childhood, we lose our ability to balance the three centers of intelligence: thinking, feeling and doing. Learning to balance these three stances frees up enormous amounts of physical, emotional, and spiritual energy.

ENNEAGRAM STANCES
Enneagram Stances are determined by naming the weakest of these centers and understanding the Stances begins a lifelong process that seeks to use each of the centers for its intended purpose. The three stances are named according to our initial response to others. People in the Dependent Stance move toward others, those in the Withdrawing Stance move away and those in the Aggressive Stance move independently.

About the Presenter:

Joey Schewee has been a student of the Enneagram for more than twenty years. As an Enneagram mentor, she completed an intensive three-year apprenticeship with her mother, Suzanne Stabile, in 2006, and has taught in tandem with the Enneagram master for over a decade.

As an Enneagram ‘8’ who has been on the journey to self-discovery using the Enneagram since she was a teenager, Joey’s application of Enneagram wisdom flows through dating and marriage, raising children, and managing employees and work relationships through careers that span the educational and corporate realms.

Traveling locally in Texas and nationally as often as her schedule allows, Joey has found a genuine passion for teaching the Enneagram at all levels, whether it be through public events hosted by non-profit organizations or as a practical and continuous application in the private sector.

Together, Joey and her husband, Billy, have developed an intuitive Enneagram & Parenting curriculum and value every opportunity they have to travel and teach together. Joey honors the tradition of teaching through story-telling and enjoys engaging all audiences seeking to learn from this ancient wisdom.
